How we pick
Every entry on this site is reviewed by a human — typically after the tool's been used in a real workflow, not just a demo. We bias toward tools with explicit free tiers, transparent limits, and open licences where the source is open.
How we rank
Each tool carries an editorial rating and a rank that controls ordering within its category. The rating captures how often we reach for the tool; the rank is set manually when we add an entry or reorder. We don't accept payment to bump a rank.
Free tier changes
Free tiers change often. Each entry has a lastReviewed date — we bump it whenever we re-verify the limits, prices, or licence.
